Cell physiology is regulated along the 24-h time scale by a circadian timing system composed of molecular clocks within each cell and a central coordination system in the brain. The mammalian molecular clock is made of interconnected molecular loops involving at least 12 circadian genes. The cellular clocks are coordinated by the suprachiasmatic nuclei, a hypothalamic pacemaker which also helps the organism adjust to environmental cycles. There is an impact of circadian rhythms in the symptoms of certain diseases like asthma, arthritis, depression, ulcer, allergic rhinitis, sleep disorders etc. The human body follows the solar/ lunar adaptations known as biological clock. The biological clock follows the main rhythm known as circadian rhythm. If the circadian rhythms dysfunctions it can greatly affect the function of the brain and behavior cognition. This can be improved by the chronotherapeutics approach. The recent interest is occurring in the field of chronotherapeuticsis to match the circadian rhythms of the disease for the successful treatment of disease.
spinach is one of the most satisfying cool-weather crops to grow, producing large yields of vitamin-rich, dark green leaves that are excellent for salads and for cooking. Since both hot weather and long days trigger spinach to bolt (send up a seed stalk) quickly, the secret to success with this crop is to start sowing seeds as soon as possible in spring, to make small, frequent plantings during late spring and summer, and to concentrate on fall as the season for the main crop.It yields many leaves in a short time in the mild weather of spring and fall. The trick lies in making spinach last as long as possible, especially in the spring, when lengthening days shorten its life. Although it prefers full sun, spinach is one of the few vegetables that produce a respectable harvest in partial shade.
Land and Sea breezes are common phenomena with meso scale features in coastal areas around the world. The intensity duration and extend of land and sea breeze circulations are mainly determined by horizontal gradients in the amount of heat supplied by the earth's surface to the atmosphere and large scale synoptic conditions . In the present study Sea Breeze Index (SBI) was estimated following the method given by Lyons and Biggs and Graves. SBI was estimated for five stations along East coast of India and another five station along the West coast of India. The SBI was presented for four seasons namely monsoon, post monsoon, winter and summer. For the sake of compression the rain fall at all the stations for the same seasons was also represented and compared to SBI. The period for which SBI is estimated is for a decade is from 2001to 2010. In this paper the seasonal variations and also the annual variations are discussed. It is interesting to note that SBI variations show a clear association notonly with the rain fall in El-Nino years. Thus it was suggested that SBI can act as an Index of monsoon rain fall.
Numerous health benefits have been attributed to tea since time immemorial. In folk medicine, the health benefits of tea were already recognized 5000 years ago and it was used as a treatment for infectious diseases, colds, and also as an aid to the digestive and nervous systems. Upon the expansion of scientific research in this field, more and more facts have accumulated testifying to the connection between regular tea consumption and lower chances of suffering from a wide variety of diseases, including cancer and cardiovascular disease. The main advantage of tea lies in the fact that it is a completely natural product, without any added flavorings, colors or preservatives. Likewise, when drunk without adding any sugar, honey or milk, tea has no calories and simultaneously serves as a crucial component for maintaining the balance of body liquids.
A study was undertaken in the selected locations in the coastal belts of Maharashtra state with a major objective of assessing the demographic characteristics and drawing specific cases of women in marine fisheries sector. The study was carried out in three coastal districts such as Greater Mumbai, Thane and Alibag. Success Case studies of women mobilization were explored from the locations in the above districts such as ‘Marol Dry fish market’ in Greater Mumbai district, ‘Naigaon Night fish market’ in Thane district in and Milkatgar & Navgav locations of Alibag district in Maharashtra. Data collection on demographic characteristics was undertaken with trained enumerators and elucidation of specific success case studies of women in fisheries sector was undertaken on Marol Dry fish market in Versoa of Greater Mumbai district, Naigaon Night fish market in Thane district and Milkatgar & Navgav Women Self Help Groups of Alibag district of Maharashtra state. These strategy developed in these case studies can be used as a practical manual for mobilizing and managing women’s Self Help Groups in any key areas on a sustainable basis. These can be used as case model for promoting group action and group empowerment and for mobilizing women based enterprises in other key areas like Agriculture, Forestry, Floriculture, Agro-based industries, Watershed development etc.
In the modern cartographic period Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) are powerful tools to mange and analyze geographic information. The GIS softwares like Arc view, ARCGIS, GIS, ERDAS Imagine etc., are useful tools to visualize, update, analyze geographical information, and create quality presentations that brings the power of interactive mapping (Kesava Ramprasad, 2001). The advances in the field of cartography improved the quality presentation with accuracy of positions in real coordinates. This latest technology has been used effectively for preparation of cadastral maps, town planning, flood assessment, drought assessment, irrigation projects, telecommunications and other administrative purposes. This paper discusses some features of and problems in handling information on CMA [Coastal Management Applications], and how remote sensing and GIS can be applied to solve the problems.
One of the important features of rural energy is the dependence on locally available biomass resources. Approximately 96% of rural household are estimated to be using bio fuels. Fuel wood is the primary energy source for cooking used by rural households. Present study had been conducted in nine villages of central Chhattisgarh. Out of these villages three villages are having forest committees and remaining six villages have less 5% forest cover. Firewood consumption have been examined according to distance from the forest. The analysis has clearly shown that the distance from forest has significant effect on total and per capita firewood consumption. Easy availability of firewood increases its consumption. Therefore firewood saving services should be thrust in areas near the forest to decrease the firewood consumption. Firewood Consumption have been examined according to distance from the forest.
